Layered, illegible texts conceal, suggest and reveal an archaeology of meaning in constant flux with the passing of time. And issues of language and translation present their inherent potential both for understanding and misunderstanding.


In parallel to her prison work with the perpetrators of crimes, these recent research-led projects derive from overlooked or forgotten stories, and voices deemed unworthy of being heard by history’s selective process. Herself fluent in the German language, Angela explores the potential understanding of cultures different to our own that can get lost in translation.
